2/17/2014

Overall, I had a great pregnancy.  The morning sickness wasn't that bad.  It was mainly set off by smells... my husband's gum, the neighbors grill, etc.  Being in my first trimester, with morning sickness, over the summer was rough.  I love grilled food and I couldn't even smell it without getting sick!

We had an ultrasound every month and I loved being able to see the babies.  See that they were growing.  See their hearts beat.  See them move.  I was always so paranoid that something was going to happen.  Like maybe I slept on my back too long and they didn't get air... I know I worry too much!  I also believe that if we were to ever have a singleton baby that I would not be able to survive seeing them once!

Throughout these ultrasounds, I was pretty sure that I was having a boy and a girl.  I thought that Baby B was too fine featured to be a boy and that Baby A was so big that he had to be a boy.  He seemed to have the cutest little Buddha belly!  Towards the end, I had said that I was pretty sure it was two boys.  The chance that it could be two girls terrified Travis, and myself actually.  We couldn't imagine two 13 year old girls that our future could possibly hold for us.  Honestly, the thought of having three of Travis running around our house kind of scares me too!

The pregnancy went fast, until the last month.  Then it felt like it took forever!  I was measuring full term so of course I got a lot of comments at work "STILL HERE!?!"  YES!  I was tired.  I was crabby.  People kept telling me to sleep while I could.  Not sure how anyone sleeps in their third trimester!  I was up to pee and having Braxton hicks.   I guess it was preparing me for what was to come!

The last month I had weekly appointments with ultrsounds that no longer measured growth but instead fluid levels and checked for primary functions like practice breathing.  On January 6, 2014 (36 weeks 5 days) I went in for my appointment.  My blood pressure was high so they tested my protein level. ... also high.  My doctor was gone for this appointment so I was seeing the specialist.  He told me that they don't like to induce prior to 37 weeks but that high blood pressure can increase the chance of stillbirth with twins.  They sent me to the lab to test for preeclampsia.  He said if it was positive I was back that night.  If it wasn't I was back at 7:30 the next morning.

Travis had the day off and we decided it was best that I take the rest of the day off too.  We went and got a few groceries and then spent the afternoon at home.   Honestly I was so nervous.  I didn't sleep all night.  I was up early.  Showered.  Put French braids in my hair and got ready to go have some babies!  I honestly don't remember much about our final moments at home!  We took a few pictures and left thinking in a few hours we would double the size of our family!
